What is menopause?
Menopause is the name of something that happens to women when their periods stop, and they are no longer able to conceive or have a child naturally. According to the NHS, usually, women go through menopause between the ages of 45 and 55 years old. However, there are some conditions that surge women and young ladies into an early menopause.
Such conditions include:
- Endometriosis
- Autoimmune diseases
- Infections such as tuberculosis and malaria
Certain types of treatment can also cause early menopause including:
- Cancer treatments
- Surgery to remove the ovaries
- Hysterectomy
Menopause is caused by a change in the balance of the body’s sex hormones. It happens when ovaries stop producing as much of the hormone oestrogen and no longer releases an egg each month.
There are 34 menopause symptoms and can range from mild to severe, including:
- Hot flushes
- Night sweats
- Fatigue
- Anxiety
- Disrupted sleep,
- Depression
- Difficulty concentrating
- Osteoporosis
We will gather all the relevant information about symptoms during the initial consultation.
How can solution-focused therapy help?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy helps by changing a client’s perspective of how they are feeling, assisting them to sleep better, valuing themselves and reducing cortisol all of which will help alleviate symptoms of menopause.
We encourage x3 positives daily of positive thought, positive interaction and positive action and suggest that each client keeps a daily journal of this.
What will I get from solution-focused therapy?
We follow the same format during all of your sessions which includes finding out ‘What has been good?’, revision of the brain and scaling, followed by a relaxation using trance.
You will have an audio to listen to each night before you go to sleep. This will embed self-hypnosis and relaxation between sessions.
The solution-focused therapy is aimed at supporting clients, by giving them the tools they need to:
- Viewing menopause as a positive and natural change in a woman’s life.
- Maintaining and building a positive mindset
- Reducing anxiety
How long are the sessions?
Each session is between 45minutes – 1 hour long.
The number of sessions required would be based upon individual needs of the client, although in order to do this an initial consultation will be needed so as we can get to know you and tailor a programme based upon those needs.
When should I start my solution-focused therapy?
The sessions are aimed to address the unique issues associated with menopause, so there is no ideal time, you can start solution-focused therapy for menopause at any point.
